Alistair Overeem, Eddie Alvarez and Kazushi Sakuraba score submissions at DREAM 12

kazushi-sakurabaThe first DREAM event featuring a cage and three, five minute rounds is in the books as DREAM 12 featured a slew of highlight reel finishes involving some of the biggest names fighting out of Japan.

The event took place from the Osaka Castle Hall in Osaka, Japan, and aired live on HDNet.

M.I.A. Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem continued to pad his record while collecting paychecks in the sport of MMA as he handed “The Colossus” James Thompson his fifth defeat in as many bouts.

After wiffing with a wild flying knee attempt to kick of the “fight”, Overeem slapped a standing guillotine choke on Thompson to put a merciful end to a bout that never should have been allowed to take place.

In lightweight action, Eddie Alvarez was frustrated by Katsunori Kikuno in the first round before landing a powerful right hand in the second round that sent the DEEP lightweight champion sailing to the canvas, and setting up the fight ending arm triangle choke for the submission victory.

Kazushi Sakuraba came back from the brink of defeat after catching a beating at the hands of Zelg Galesic in the early moments of the first round before pulling the rabbit out of the hat in the form of a ligament popping kneebar submission.

Am I the only one that heard Overeem say after his fight that he was going back to Dream? If this is true Coker WTF are you waiting for, Strip this dummy of the title and give a guy who wants to fight in your organization a shot.

Sakuraba was insane. He was getting thumped hard with repeated hard blows but never let go of the leg till he got the submission.

Alvarez in yet another exciting fight. He is fast becoming one of my favorite guys to watch in the ring or cage.

Sakuraba looked like he was almost out and he pulled it out, great display of determination by him. If that fight was held in the ufc it would have been a tko for Zelg for sure.
Alverez held off that crazy neck crank for about two minutes and looked really bad for the first round but came through it like a true champion, that was a great fight.
Is Overeem gaining 10lbs a fight or what????
    WTF has happened to Beebe?

Overeem ‘roids himself to another hollow victory over a weak opponent.
