Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Rubin Williams set for DREAM 11

kazushi-sakurabaKazushi Sakuraba will be back in action for Tuesday’s Dream 11 event. The MMA legend also known as the “The Gracie Hunter” has been added as a last minute addition to the Japanese organizations card.

The former PRIDE fighter will be facing off with Rubin Williams, a former professional boxer from the third season of “The Contender” with a record of 29-8-1. This will be Williams’ professional fighting debut.

Sakuraba hasn’t fought since K1’s New Years Eve event last year, where he suffered a Unanimous Decision loss to Kiyoshi Tamura.

The 40-year-old veteran has had a tough run of things posting a 3-3 record in his last six bouts, with his last two being losses.

To make room for Sakuraba’s return, lightweight Daisuke Nakamura, is being moved to the October 25th event, Dream 12.

Sakuraba, considered to be a hero when he fought in the now defunct Pride, has had legendary fights with Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, Vitor Belfort, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, and Wanderlei Silva. He also holds wins over Quinton Jackson, Ken Shamrock, along with Royce, Ryan, Renzo, and Royler Gracie.

Dream 11 will be held on Tuesday, October 6th, and set to air live on HDNet. The main event features a Lightweight title between Joachim Hansen vs. Shinya Aoki.

I don’t think they are throwing the Ring away, just using the white cage for 12.

I dunno, I think Sakuraba has seen better days. Am I the only guy that had to read that Rubin guy’s name a couple of times before I realized it wasn’t ROBIN williams? LOL
