Efrain Escudero Levels Cole Miller, Tomasz Drwal Strangles Drew McFedries During UFC 103 Prelims

efrain escuderoEfrain Escudero made his much awaited return to the Octagon an impressive one on Saturday evening as he put a beating on Cole Miller during the preliminary portion of UFC 103 in Dallas, Texas.

After tossing Miller to the canvas halfway through the first round and refusing to follow him down, it became apparent that Efrain’s intentions were to keep the fight on the feet. Just moments later a huge right hand from the Arizona native sent Miller crashing to the canvas, where Escudero followed it up with several more powerful punches that separated Miller from consciousness.

Tomasz Drwal and Drew McFedries came out like they had a deep grudge against one another as both men attempted to knock the others’ head from their shoulders with a series of brutal exchanges. It seemed like McFedries began to tire torwards the end of the first round, and it ended up taking Drwal all of 1:03 to knock the fatigued brawler to the canvas where he sinched up the rear-naked choke for the victory in the second.

Other fighters that put themselves in the winners column during the preliminary portion of UFC 103 include Ricky Story, Jim Miller and Vladimir Matyushenko.

Efrain looked really good here, and Drew looked like as soon as he realized he could not ko Drawl he gave in. But Thomas looked very tough a very nice free ppv prelim show.

  • Makington says:

Drew looked embarrassing, plain and simple. Now I know he isn’t close to the best Middleweight out there, but after the first 30 seconds you could tell he was going to lose the fight.

Good job to Ephraim though, a very nice statement to the rest of the Lightweights.

i’d like to know how Vladimir looked if anyone saw it?
also anyone else think the free prelim portion fucked up the ppv a little? both of the televised prlims finished early so they showed us another 2, but come the ppv card their were more early stoppages and they obviously needed to fill time. had they not shown the prelims live, inserting Escudero/miller, Drwal/McFedries, MIller/Lopez & Story/Foster into that ppv would have made for a great three hours.

    both upsets one my view

efrain’s hands are starting to improve with every fight.a good pair of hands to go with his great wrestling will make him a force in the LW division in the future.Hopefully he can get a couple of wins over solid competiton before dana tries to claim he’s the next roger huerta.
