Jon Jones wins via 1st TKO

he is just explosive, unpredictable, and simply a much better striker

Joe Silva knocked this one out of the park…

Excellent match-up of rising talents in the UFC LHW division.

Jones’ talent and potential are obvious. Great skill set with Greco-Roman and muy thai, augmented by speed, reflexes, and the kind of spontaneous improvisation that will make him a challenge for any opponent. He’s proven he can handle experienced competition with his victories over Stephan Bonnar and Jake O’brien, and should continue to learn and grow in the sport.

Been a fan of Matt Hamill since TUF, as I enjoy the tough wrestling approach. With his last two victories coming by knockout, and the last a convincing headkick stoppage, he’s added a standing striking element to his repertoire, making him more of an all around threat. Matt is known for brutal full body strength, giving him the kind of power that makes it tough to manipulate him on the ground, and with improved stand-up, he brings a complete package to the cage.

I’d have to give Jones a slight edge here, but this should be a great fight, and a tough night for both of these guys.

I think Jon Jones is on his way to becoming a dominant force in the UFC. He will end Hamill’s night quickly. I don’t think Matt Hamill is as good as Jake O’Brien. I do like Matt Hamill and really appreciate what’s he’s overcome in life growing up deaf, but he will be outmatched vs. Jon Jones. Bet the house on this one. It’s free money.

Love JJ and love the match up. Hamill is growing on me with his much improved stand up. The man is naturally strong so it only makes sense to get that part of his game going. JJ is “quick fast” and very unpredictable. Staying on his feet is a must for him cause his cardio is suspect imo. Hamill gets him down for any period of time it could be an upset. This is not going to be as easy for JJ as it looks. If the past stays true Hamill has most likely loaded up on more knowledge cause he is a sponge for it. I have JJ by dec

Roll them Bones Baby! Jon Jones is going to teach Hamill a lesson in getting your ass kicked.

Hammil has got NOTHING for Bones. rd. 1 T/KO

  • fanoftna33 says:

Hammil is a solid fighter and puttong him against Jones is a great match up, if Hammil wins he needs to step up in compitition, Silve, Forrest, or Henderson would be good fights. Same for Jones if he wins. I will go with Jones here as he is mutch faster than Hammil and with thier wrestling being close(besides the fact that Hammil never uses his wrestling) Jones wins.

    fan
if he is smart and he is he will have to use his wrestling in this one. no point trying to out strike a werido striker like JJ. I like JJ in this one but its going to the cards for sure

  • fanoftna33 says:

Moose, I like Hammil but it seems like most wrestlers he has decided not to use his wrestling anymore(see the Franklin fight where he had 1 takedown, and with Franklins lack of wrestling Hammil could have used that to win and instead traded blows) I would put Rashad in that same catagory with his wrestling being all but forgotten. I think with Hammils power if he could really put his ground and pound together he could do some good things at 205.

  • edub says:

Hammil by dec. He is smart enough to use a gameplan and his wrestling is a league above Jones’.

I hope im wrong Id like to see Bones become a breakout star, and him and Mousasi get together down the road in a year or two.

  • Angry Mike says:

Hamill’s stand up is improving, but he still tends to drop his hands. I’m going with Jones by ko or tko in round 2 at the latest.

I like Hamill a lot but Jones is light years ahead. He is the future Anderson Silva. Jones will completely dominate. Early mma was dominated by bjj. Then wrestling/gnp as an answer came along. The future = good grappling + incredibly great standup. Silva and Machida are that now. Jones and similar fighters are the future. There are many good reasons the UFC signed him as the youngest recruit so far. This match is just a resume builder for Jones. I feel bad for Hamill in that sense.
