Ben Henderson Injured, WEC 43 Postponed

wec-logoWith just days before it was set to premier, World Extreme Cagefighting announced today they will be postponing their “WEC 43: Cerrone vs. Henderson” event, originally scheduled to for September 2nd.

An injury to main event fighter Benson Henderson, who was set to fight Donald Cerrone for the interim lightweight title, is being reported for the reason for the postponement.

The event has now been rescheduled for a date of October 10 and will still be broadcast live on Versus.

It has not yet been announced if the original venue of Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio will be the location of the postponed event. Had the event gone live, it would have marked the first time the WEC has ventured into Ohio.

There has also been no report on the injury Henderson has suffered, but he will still face Cerrone on the October 10 date.

All ticket refunds for the September 2nd event can be obtained at the point of purchase.

This really sucks I was looking forward to this fight. It has all the signs of non stop back and forth action.

This sucks shit. Oh well- hopefull nothing serious is wrong with Ben. I wanna see these guys go at it healthy. No excuses. Should be a hell of a fight in October. Then I’d imagine the winner fights Jamie right away.

It’s time for ZUFFA to merge the WEC w/ the UFC.There just aren’t enough fighters in the WEC to keep an event afloat if somebody has to cancel. This is the problem that AFFLICTION had and STRIKEFORCE is going to have.Mark my words.
