Cole Province tests positive for steroids at WEC 42

cole provinceWEC featherweight Cole Province has tested positive for a designer steroid by the name of Methasterone following his victory at WEC 42. Of course, the steroid is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency.

Province bested Fredson Paixao by unanimous decision in a bout that was held on the preliminary portion of the card.

All other fighters that were randomly tested during the event came back squeaky clean. Those men were Miguel Torres, Brian Bowles, Dominick Cruz, Takeya Mizugaki, Leonard Garcia, Shane Roller, Ed Ratcliff and Diego Nunes.

No penalty has been handed down to Province currently, as he will likely be given the proper amount of time to plead his case.

Did you see the fight Cory? Im just wondering who you thought one considering a lot of the playbyplays on certain sites have differing opinions.

Should definately be ruled a NC now anyways.

He took roids to bulk up to featherweight?

Was he 96 pounds before he started juicing?

(BTW, I am joking so please don’t answer these questions in subsequent comments)

If MMA wants to get serious about drug testing and banning substances, they really need to switch to blood testing. Maybe Cole can stay on the roids get huge and go fight Barnett in Japan.

What I would like to see is a third fight between Ken Shamrock and Royce Graci, both recently suspended for steriods. Hopefully in Japan where it wont matter if they are juiced or not, this just made me think of guys getting caught that I would like to see fight.

  • For his part, Province is saying the positive result was due to an OTC supplement he didn’t vette as well as he should have.

Props for this youngster accepting blame and not shifting responsibility to whoever made the supplement.
