Rafael “Feijão” Cavalcante set for Strikeforce return in October

FeijaoHighly touted light-heavyweight prospect Rafael “Feijão” Cavalcante is set to make his return to Strikeforce following an extremely disappointing and widely unexpected loss in June.

Cavalcante himself confirmed the date of his next bout in a recent conversation with, stating, “I’ll fight in October, I’m just waiting for the confirmation of when and against who”.

Feijao quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with at 205 pounds while knocking out three of the three opponents placed in front of him while competing under the EliteXC banner. However, the Black House trained Brazilian knockout artist’s momentum met an extreme sour note at “Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields” on June 6 when he was given a vicious beating at the hands of UFC veteran Mike Kyle.

While unwilling to offer up any excuses for his brutal defeat at the hands of Kyle, Cavalcante is quick to point out that there were outside circumstances that definitely played a part in the bouts outcome.

“I had my opponent changed four times before the fight and I couldn’t do my preparation right,” explained Feijao. “I saw many mistakes in that fight, but I decided to do it so I was my mistake.

“I had problems making weight for this fight, but that’s not an excuse, I faced a very tough opponent. But this loss only makes me stronger. Now I have to work more on my mistakes and get back to the top.”

The Strikeforce card in October is quickly taking shape as the best in promotion history as Fedor Emelianenko has already been announced to participate, along with Aistair Overeem and Jake Shields.
