King Mo vs. Don Frye set for “M-1 Global Presents Breakthrough” in August

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal is coming to America after becoming enormously popular in the land of the rising sun going undefeated fighting for Sengoku.Don Frye

Who better to welcome the flamboyant fast rising prospect to the United States than the American bad ass himself, UFC and PRIDE vet Don Frye.

The two are set to meet in a heavyweight contest during “M-1 Global Presents Breakthrough“.

The event is scheduled for August 28 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

News of the bout was first reported by MMAJunkie.com earlier today citing sources close to negotiations.

Lawal stunned the MMA community in September of 2008 at Sengoku 5 when he ran through a veteran of over sixty fights in Travis Wiuff in his professional debut. He fought every two months after that fight, winning his next three in Japan before a knee injury forced him to the sidelines over the last few months.

Frye has gone 4-2 in his last six bouts. He recently bounce back from a first round submission at the hands of Ikuhisa Minowa by catching Rich Moss in a rear-naked choke in May of 2009.

Very high-impact fight for both fighters!!! The best of luck to you too. I’d like to see a great knockout.

Mo should be able to win this fight, impressively. It will also give him a win over a name opponent in the US, and help build his notoriety here in the states.

Frye has a supporting part in the new Johnny Dep movie about John Dillinger. (Public Enemy). Plays a bad-ass (what else?) lawman brought in when the Feds need more muscle.

This could be a good match up between two scrappers with solid wrestling. Fisticuffs ensue.

don frye has always been one of my favorite fighters. Istill remember his last interview with the ufc when dan severen took his place against mark coleman. In typicle Frye fashion he didnt hold back, and said the reason he wasnt in the fight was pure politics. Gotta love that kind of strait talk.
