Filho submits Manhoef and Jesse Taylor destroys Sik Yoon’s leg at DREAM 10

jesse taylorThings got off to a great start for the Dutch knockout artist before he eventually succumbed to his achilles heal at DREAM 10 in Saitama, Japan.

Melvin Manhoef came out with his guns blazing in his bout with Paulo Filho and rocked the dangerous submission artist badly on several occasions before eventually being dragged to the canvas. Once there, Filho made short work of Manhoef as he locked on the game ending armbar to bring the exciting bout to a conclusion midway through the first.

Jesse “JT Money” Taylor earned his seventh straight win since being released from the UFC, although it didn’t come in the fashion he had hoped for.

Taylor came out strong and shot for the takedown on Dong Sik Yoon right away. During the takedown Sik Yoon’s leg was snapped like a tree branch. Surprisingly the injured warrior fought on valiantly before eventually succumbing to the pain on the ground giving Taylor the first round TKO victory due to injury.

I wonder if Taylor will get the opportunity to go back to the UFC. He seems to have improved dramatically. Granted, it’s a lower tier of competitors. But he will really be pushed in the UFC.

Id like to see him at 170 in the UFC.

  • shotokai_ says:

Yeah whether he’d make it to the top or not, he is without a doubt more talented than some of the ufc WW roster.

GOOD LORD, I don’t see how Filho survived those bombs.. Props to him though, he seemed much better than in his last few WEC fights..

  • metalmulisha says:

Filho showed signs of why he was a top 2 or 3 middleweight.
He ate those big shots from Manhoef and got him down and worked for a submission. The guy has a lot of skills. He just has to have his mind clear.

  • GetItOn says:

I am glad that Filho pulled off the win. It’s always a pleasure to see a guy take a beating and come back and pull off the win by submission. That fight is what MMA is all about. Manhoef should have stood back up after he rocked Filho the first time and it went to the ground. A mistake he probably won’t make again. He’s a seasoned MMA fighter but he still clearly makes the most common mistakes a striker could make against a Jits specialist.

JT Money had that fight handed to him. Don’t get me wrong, he was working the ground eight days a week against Yoon, taking his back and spinning around. Yoon had to be getting motion sickness from all of the moving and spinning Jesse was doing on top of him. That leg was extremely taped up and it’s quite obvious that Yoon came into that fight with an injury that was far too severe to be fighting with. Either way, he would have been handled by the great wrestler.

Paulo looked pretty good, took some really hard shots and did his thing. It was a great way for him to come back, hopefully he cleared his problems up. I think the fight of the night was Galvao vs High, man that was a cool fight.
