Yushin Okami vs. Chael Sonnen announced for UFC 104

A middleweight match-up between Yushin Okami and Chael Sonnen has been set for UFC 104.

The bout was recently via UFC’s Japanese website.

The event is set to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on October 24.

Okami boasts an impressive UFC record of 7-1 with his last bout being a unanimous decision victory over Dean Lister in December of 2008. Constantly on the cusp of a middleweight title shot, a win over Sonnen will push the Japanese fighter that much closer to his ultimate goal in the UFC.

Sonnen got a rough start in his recent return to the UFC when he was submitted by Demian Maia in the first round of their UFC 95 bout, but came back strong at UFC 98 where he pulled off the unanimous decision victory over an always game Dan Miller.

A full list of the bouts expected for UFC 104 are listed below:

Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua

This fight should be a very competitive snooze fest.

  • Jstew3785 says:

My thoughts exactly. This might be the most boring fight of the year. 15 minutes of their life that the crowd will never get back.

Nah, my main mans gonna smash Sonnens face

Shoulda been Hendo vs. Okami for MW title shot.

  • dpk says:

this is a relevant fight as far as the MW title picture, but it isn’t going to be a very exciting fight at all.

  • Patrickk says:

Who do I think is going to win? Let’s see here…

Machida is going to KO or submit Rua
Carwin is going to KO Velasquez in spectacular fashion
Sonnen is going to score a unanimous decision
Bader is going to KO Schafer
    Johnson KO Yoshida

All of the rest I don’t know, they aren’t really big fights to me.
