The UFC has added another body to their heavyweight division as they signed Chicago police officer Mike Russow.
The UFC has not announced the signing, but The Times of Northwest Indiana revealed the addition of Russow to the UFC heavyweight roster in a blog post.
Russow, who has seen action in PRIDE as well as Adrenaline MMA, was last seen defeating Braden Bice on Adrenaline’s second card in December of last year. The Chicago native is 11-1 in his career with his biggest win coming against Jason Guida in June of 2008. His only loss was against Sergei Kharitonov at Pride 33 in February of 2007.
Although no opponent has been confirmed it is believed that Russow will make his organizational debut at UFC Fight Night 19 on September 16 in Oklahoma City. The former state wrestling champion has won eight fights via submission, two by knockout and one by decision. Russow attended Lincoln College which is the same school that former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes attended.
The deal is believed to be a four fight deal although not terms have yet to be confirmed.
