A welterweight fight between Jay Hieron (17-4) and Paul Daley (21-8-2) has reportedly been signed for Affliction’s upcoming third show, which is scheduled to take place on August 1st.
The news of the signing was first reported by MMA Fanhouse.
Hieron will be making his second appearance in Affliction. He fought on the promotion’s “Day of Reckoning” card where he knocked out Jason High in 64 seconds. It was Hieron’s fifth consecutive victory.
Daley is a veteran of Cage Rage and had posted six straight wins of his own before falling to Jake Shields in 2008. Daley rebounded from the loss to Shields with a victory over John Alessio but lost by unanimous decision to Nick Thompson earlier this year.
However, Daley remained busy and quickly got back into the cage, posting first-round knockouts over lower-level opponents on March 29 and April 18. This will mark his third fight in the last six months.
Affliction III is expected to take place in the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
