MMA Agents to hold charity golf tournament on Aug. 11 to benefit the Ryan Bennett Foundation

MMA is a very political industry with its fair share of cliques. However, there is a cause that never fails to bring unity to the MMA community, and that is the memory of the late Ryan Bennett.

Bennett died tragically in a car accident on May 31, 2006 at the age of 36, leaving wife Tonya and four children behind.

A professional sportscaster who worked for several local NBC affiliates and hosted talks shows on sports radio stations such as ESPN 1280 and Sports Radio 570, Bennett is most familiar to MMA fans as the co-founder of and as a former UFC announcer.

On Aug. 11, Ken Pavia’s MMAagents fighter agency will hold its first-ever charity golf tournament at the Sierra Lakes Golf Club in Fontana,Calif. And Pavia’s agency has chosen a worthy cause for its maiden voyage as proceeds will be donated the Ryan Bennett Foundation.

“Ken has always had tremendous admiration for Ryan Bennett,” said MMAagents Associate Jason House, who is helping organize the event. “They were good friend and Ryan had a tremendous impact on the industry… He was beloved by fighters, promoters, and the entire industry.”

The Ryan Bennett foundation was started to help support his children and Pavia and his agency are looking to raise additional funds. A total of 45 fighters have committed to participating in the tournament, and fans will have the opportunity to not only rub shoulders with the fighters but also play a round of golf with them.

Fighters already committed to the event include Chuck Liddell, Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, Pat Miletich, Mark Coleman, Dan Henderson, Erin Toughill, and many more.

Each foursome will include at least one MMA fighter and a total of four slots can be reserved for as little as $1,000 with individual slots priced at $300. The prices include lunch and a special banquet after the event. For those who do not golf you can choose a banquet-only option for $100. MMAagents is also looking to raise additional money for the event through title sponsorships.
