There was no shortage of highlight reel finishes in last night’s Bellator FC event which marked the promotion’s third week in the ongoing tournament. Five of the scheduled eleven bouts were finalized by knockout, four of the combatants were forced to tap out and only two fights went to the judges.
The event took place at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Oklahoma and will be aired this evening on ESPN Deportes via one day tape delay.
Cuban Judo Olympian Hector Lombard looked impressive as he dispatched of Virgil Lazano with a brutal uppercut just over a minute into the middleweight tournament bout. Lombard improved his record to 18-2 while advancing on to the tournament’s middleweight semi-finals.
UFC veteran Dave Menne returned to the cage with an inspired come from behind victory over Norman Paraisy. After taking punishment from the bottom position for the bulk of the bout, Menne managed to secure a rear naked choke in the third and final round for the dramatic victory.
Altogether the event featured a total of five tournament bouts and six non-tournament bouts.
