It appears as though a bout between UFC heavyweights Junior dos Santos and Justin McCully is going to be taking place at UFC 102.
Although nothing has been officially announced at this point, MMAWeekly.com has reported that the match-up has been agreed to by both fighters.
The Brazilian born dos Santos burst onto the UFC heavyweight scene when he knocked out the highly regarded Fabricio Werdum with a vicious uppercut in his UFC debut in October of 2008. He is currently the Brazilian kickboxing champion with a record of 18-0 and fights out of the Black House gym which is also home to notable fighters such as Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida, both Nogueira brothers, Vitor Belfort and many more. He has an overall record of 8-1 with six knockouts to his credit with his most recent bout being a brutal first round knockout of the much taller Stefan Struve at UFC 95.
McCully fights out of Team Punishment and trains among the likes of Tito Ortiz, Kendall Grove and many others. He was victorious in his UFC debut against Antoni Hardonk in April of 2007 but suffered a setback in the form of a first round submission defeat at the hands of Gabriel Gonzaga in July of 2008. Most recently McCully sent Eddie Sanchez packing from the UFC with a unanimous decision victory at UFC: Fight for the Troops.
Although no official date or location have been announced for UFC 102, rumors place it at Portland, Oregon in late August.
