Junior dos Santos vs. Justin McCully Sometime This Summer

Brazilian heavyweight, Junior dos Santos, will be making his return to the octagon this August at either UFC 101 or 102.

The Brazilian website, Tatame.com, recently spoke with dos Santos who went on to say that his opponent would be Justin McCully.

Dos Santos made a surprising entrance into the UFC when he knocked out top ten heavyweight and fellow Brazilian, Fabricio Werdum, at UFC 90in October of last year. He needed all of 81 seconds to finish the job, and with that, sent Werdum packing his bags. His most recent fight came against Stefan Struve at UFC 95 in February. This time he only needed 54 seconds to dispatch of the tall, lanky German.

McCully has not been seen since defeating Eddie Sanchez at the UFC’s “Fight For The Troops” special back in December. The Team Punishment fighter is 2-1 throughout his UFC career, also defeating Antoni Hardonk and losing to Gabriel Gonzaga.

UFC 101 is scheduled for August 8th and will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and UFC 102 will be held in Portland, Oregon on August 29.

Anybody excited about this matchup? Not this guy. So they give you the shaft by making you fight a top ten heavyweight for your debut and now your fighting Justin McCully? Ass backwards matchmaking.

Yeah, I have to agree with ace on this one. Hopefully he makes quick work of McCully and he moves on to fight Velasquez or Kongo.

If/when he defeats McCully Velasquez would be the best oppenent to see who the next HW star would be. It would be like the old wrestler vs Juijitsui matches just with way better sriking. I don’t mean to look past Herring or McCully but if Velasquez & Dossantos win it is the perfect set up for them . By then Carwin will probably be the #1 HW contender & it would be a pivotal match up for the Hw division. I missed the Werdum match but I loved how dossantos just tor through that russian guy. & Velasquez’s striking has greatly improved. I’m still not sure wich one of these guys i like better. I guess as a Mexican-american i should go with Velasquez but I am a huge fan of Brazilian fighters because thay are a nationality made up of warriors like us. anyway that would be an awsome match-up. Thoughts from anybody???
