Indianapolis-based welterweight prospect Shamar Bailey is expected to be formally added to the Strikeforce roster in the near future. A contract between the fighter and the 7-1 Bailey is believed to be on the verge of being finalized.
FiveOuncesofPain.com learned of the news from sources close to the fighter on Thursday.
The contract is expected to be a multi-fight deal and Bailey is considered likely to debut during Showtime’s replacement for the ShoXC franchise it operated while it had a broadcast agreement in place with EliteXC.
Bailey trains out of Integrated Fighting in Indianapolis with the likes of UFC fighters such as Jake O’Brien and Chris Lytle.
Competing primarily in Ohio and Kentucky, the explosive Bailey holds notable wins over Gabe Miranda and Waachim Spiritwolf.
Bailey’s most recent win took place this past December during a United Fight League event, Facing James George, Bailey secured the victory following a first round submission.
