The UFC has officially announced that tickets to its UFC 97 event on Saturday, April 18 in Montreal will go on sale this week.
The event, which will be headlined by Anderson Silva defending his UFC middleweight title against Thales Leites, will take place at the 21,000-plus seat Bell Centre, home to the NHL’s Montreal Canadians.
Tickets will be made available to the general public this Saturday, February 14 starting at 12 noon ET. However, the general on sale will be preceded by two separate pre-sales. Members of the UFC’s “Fight Club” will get first crack at ticket starting this Wednesday, February 11at noon ET.
“Fight Club” members will have up to 48 hours of exclusive access to UFC 97 tickets until subscribers to the UFC’s newsletter gets access starting at noon ET on Friday, February 13.
UFC 97 will mark the UFC’s return to Montreal for the first time since last April’s UFC 83, which featured Georges St. Pierre winning back the UFC welterweight title following a second round TKO over Matt Serra.
Last year’s event was a sellout with over 13,00 tickets being purchased through the “Fight Club” before they were made accessible to the general public. So many tickets were bought via the “Fight Club” pre-sale that the UFC canceled its newsletter pre-sale. Demand for this year’s event is expected to be strong, but not as strong as last year due to the fact that St. Pierre will not be headlining.
