Finalized card released for WEC 39

Coming off the heels of WEC 38 this past Sunday night in San Diego, Calif., World Extreme Cagefighting officials have released the finalized lineup for its next event, WEC 39, scheduled for March 1 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The event, which will be televised on VERSUS, will feature WEC featherweight champion Mike Thomas Brown making his first defense of the title against former UFC lightweight competitor Leonard Garcia. Brown won the belt against former champion Urijah Faber following a first round TKO this past November.

The winner of Brown vs. Garcia appears to be in line to meet Faber following the former champ’s first round submission win against Jens Pulver this past Sunday night.

The complete card for WEC 39 is as follows:

Televised Main Card –

  • WEC featherweight title: Mike Thomas Brown vs. Leonard Garcia
  • Richard Crunkilton vs. Bart Palaszewski
  • Marcus Hicks vs. Rob McCullough
  • Johny Hendricks vs. Alex Serdyukov

Non-televised Preliminary Card –

  • Marcos Galvao vs. Damacio Page
  • Mike Budnik vs. John Franchi
  • Justin Haskins vs. Douglas Lima
  • Alex Karalexis vs. Greg McIntyre
  • Phil Cardella vs. Danny Castillo
  • Kenji Osawa vs. Rafael Rebello
  • JOe K. says:

I hope we get to see all of the fights on the main card.

  • Mike Wolfe says:

I wish they’d show all of them. The rest of the programming on Vs. is pretty marginal, so the network wouldn’t be losing anything.

  • JOe K. says:

The network would have nothing to lose and so much revenue to gain from a 4 hour event.

  • NJMMAFAN says:

    hicks gets TKOwned

  • CMT says:

I hope to see the Karalexis / McIntyre fight. Both are coming off losses. Both are decent on the ground. Should be an interesting match up. McIntyre by submission in the second. Hey Greg, no knock in 30 seconds, still waiting on ya!!
