Former NCAA Champion Phil Davis to compete for Palace Fighting Championships

Former NCAA champion and light heavyweight prospect Phil Davis will be fighting on the West Coast for the first time when he competed for the Palace Fighting Championships in Lemoore, California on January 22.

The news was made public on Tuesday morning by Davis’ management team, Lionheart Management.

Davis, 1-0, is scheduled to face Josh Green, a veteran of both the Gladiator Challenge promotion and the pre-Zuffa WEC. Green is 4-1 with all four of his victories taking place inside of the first round.

Considered a top amateur wrestler for the past several years, Davis won the 2008 NCAA tournament in the 197 pound division.  Davis began competing in MMA soon after graduating Penn State and made his pro MMA debut on Oct. 11 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where he defeated Brett Chism in a two round unanimous decision.
