UFC cancels Amir Sadollah vs. Nick Catone middleweight matchup at UFC 91

The UFC announced Tuesday that a middleweight matchup between Amir Sadollah and Nick Catone that had been scheduled to take place at this Saturday during UFC 91 has been canceled.

According to UFC.com, Sadollah was forced to pull out of the fight due to a leg infection. Despite an exhaustive search, a replacement was not able to be secured and a decision was made to take Catone off the card in addition to Sadollah.

Originally set to be a 10-bout event, UFC 91 is now slated to be a nine match card with a welterweight encounter between Dustin Hazelett and Tamdan McCrory being promoted from the non-televised preliminary card to the televised undercard.

Hazelett vs. McCrory joins fights involving UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture vs. Brock Lesnar, Kenny Florian vs. Joe Stevenson, Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Josh Hendricks, and Nate Quarry vs. Demian Maia as bouts guaranteed to be televised during Saturday’s pay-per-view telecast.

As much as I do not wish ill upon anyone, I can’t say I’m too disappointed by this. They are replacing a fight that was only on the main card because of TUF with a fight that in all likelihood wins fight of the night. Neither McCrory or Hazelett put on bad shows even in defeat. Hazelett is a handful for anyone, and as I can attest to being there live, McCrory was beating Gono pretty decisively before getting caught in the armbar. Again, I wish Sadollah well, but I am much happier about my decision to order the fight with this on the card instead.

Great, now they can move it to Spike instead of PPV.

I did want to see this fight… but I’m not going to lie, I wanted to see Hazelett/McCrory more.

Get well soon Amir. Heal up and come back stronger. It is too bad Zuffa couldn’t find a MW on their roster or anywhere else. Time is short so. They should toss Contone a few G’s or bring him to town for the weekend. The guy pretty much earned something right?

I like Amir, but I was pissed when the Hazelett fight didn’t make the main card, that guy always puts on an awesome show.
