Randy Couture and Fedor meet in LA

The above is one of several photos being distributed by UFC heavyweight champion (that’s right, he’s still their heavyweight champ) Randy Couture’s camp depicting Couture and WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko socializing Monday night at Los Angeles-area hot spot “STK.”

In the release of the photos there was no mention of business being discussed between either men. Couture has recently been quoted as being less optimistic about a much-anticipated “dream” fight between the two men and there is no word whether the two met regarding a possible fight last night or if the photos are being distributed simply to grab some headlines (in which case, mission accomplished).

Reports indicate that Couture and the UFC have entered into arbitration in recent weeks in an attempt to resolve their long-standing contractual feud. Is there light at the end of the tunnel, or is this just a tease?

Randy’s acting lessons seem to be paying off. He’s hiding the fear pretty well (unlike after Fedor/Sylvia fight).

  • BadMonkey says:

Randy looks awfully small in that pic. Maybe his movie acting is taking a little too much away from his training. Unfortunately, it’s starting to look more & more like this fight will never happen which sucks.

I think we’ll see this fight happen within one year. I would rather see it take place in the Octagon but who know’s? I just wonder if Randy would fight Fedor if he lost to anyone else by then? Would he consider a bout against Nogueira? Will Fedor vs. Minotauro 4 ever happen?

Whoever book’s any of these fight’s is going to make a TON of money. These guy’s are the best in the world. I hope to see some reslove here soon. There are a lot of issues to be agreed upon and I’d like to see it happen. One year is good enough time to make a deal for Couture vs. Emelianenko. Where, when and for who just need’s to be decided. 1 year…

An arbitration is an alternative to a trial. Previous posts have referred to an ongoing arbitration under the auspices of the American Arbitration Association. Basically, the parties have agreed in one or both of their contracts to pursue the arbitration rather than going to court. An arbitration is perceived as quicker and less expensive than traditional trials, and usually is more private. An arbitration is not a settlement negotiation, which is sometimes in the form of a mediation. At the hearing the arbitrator(s) will hear the evidence and make a decision that will be binding on both sides. In other words, just like at trial, somebody will win and somebody will lose. As the arbitration hearing approaches, the parties may engage in formal or informal settlement negotiations, but that’s by mutual agreement rather than because they have to do so. Unless there is an arbitration date that has been disclosed to the press, we really don’t have any idea when the disputes will be resolved.

Well, the following rumor haas been circulating the internet for the last few weeks. I will not post the site, I am just posting the text for anyone who cares…..

Randy Couture and his legal representatives are planning to meet with top officials from the UFC early next week. The meetings hope to work out an amicable split, which will end the months of legal action by both sides. Although Dana White has been against working out a deal, it appears he has been overruled by top officials within Zuffa, UFC’s parent company. White has a tendency to make business personal and it seems Zuffa has finally stepped in to work the matter out.

This rumor was originally thought to be garbage, but now we have semi secret meetings between them…..makes you kind of wonder if the end is really near……

    BadMonkey

nah, he’s just standing in the background and Fedor is more in the foreground. He just looks smaller because of the angles.

  • Ross says:

I wonder if Randy is starting to think his chances of getting out of his contract within a reasonable time frame is getting slim. he has to realize he isnt getting any younger, he signed a contract…..I have to imagine he isnt happy with how this has worked out.

  • Ian says:

Thankfully I stopped caring about this fight almost as soon as I started.

I love Randy as an ambassador to the sport, but let’s face it, he would get embarrassed by Fedor. In a ring, cage, or a circle of communist hating rednecks with pitchforks.

  • hindsightufuk says:

yeah i dont hold much hope of this fight ever happening now

  • Mike says:

I still think Randy will take him.

  • Dave says:

randy should’ve just finished out the last 2 fights of his contract and then went for the mega-fight. Now he’s just looking silly by dana white.

  • mikee says:

I don’t understand why you people think that Randy is simply going to be outclassed by him. Kinda angers me…….I mean we are talking about Randy Couture! Nobody is going to embarass Randy. He is without a doubt one of the best fighhters of ALL time and he will be a tough fighht for anybody at any weight class.

  • truth says:

Randy beat an injured/reluctant Tim, and Gonzaga, who has holes in his game like Swiss cheese. That’s why people predict doom for Randy.

  • JoHn says:

I’VE LOST INTEREST IN THAT FIGHT ANY DAMN WAY

  • Sergio G. Hernandez says:

“Nobody is going to embarass Randy.”

The same Randy that got knocked out by Liddell in twice in less than 10 minutes?

truth definitely lives up to his name. Wins over an injured Sylvia and an overhyped Gonzaga do not a challenger for Fedor make.

  • Mike says:

sylvia’s a peice of shit, he wasnt injured he was just saying that cuz he fought like a bitch

  • Sergio G. Hernandez says:

Yeah, I’m sure the BACK SURGERY Sylvia had after the Couture fight was all part of his ruse…

  • Would it not be interesting if UFC got these guys to fight in the cage. I would rather want to see this fight in an octagon than a roped ring. It sucks when the ref has to stop it and have the fighters reposition inside the ring.

Hopefully Randy will get his contractual issues put to rest with the UFC soon.

  • Jesse says:

randy would get beat up pretty good..
if fedor fights some sumo dude then randy it will be a while before he’s put in with a guy who can test him.. hope aa or barnett will get a shot before couture but the longer randy waits to fight.. anyone.. the worse condition he’ll be
