Nate Diaz expected to fight Josh Neer at UFN 15

5617_acnwwxbvje_vlarge.jpg Nate Diaz’s next scheduled fight will take place against Josh Neer at UFC Fight Night 15 on Sept. 17, according to GracieFighter.com, a website owned and operated by Diaz’s trainer, Cesar Gracie.

Neer, 24-6-1, according to Sherdog’s fight finder, is currently on a three fight win streak and was victorious in his UFC return at UFC Fight Night 13 this past April. Taking on Din Thomas in a lightweight encounter, Neer won the bout via unanimous decision.

Diaz, the younger brother of EliteXC competitor Nick Diaz, is 9-2 in 11 pro bouts and is a perfect 4-0 during his brief UFC career with victories over Manny Gamburyan, Junior Assuncao, Alvin Robinson, and Kurt Pellegrino.

UFC Fight Night 14 is expected to be held at the Pearl at the Palms and will serve as a prelude to the season premiere of the eighth season of “The Ultimate Fighter” on Spike TV. In addition to the Neer vs. Diaz bout, fights between Houston Alexander vs. Eric Schafer and Tamdan McCrory vs. Luke Cummo are rumored as well.

My money is on Diaz to win this one. This fight should be a barnburner. To bad someone has lose. Both fighter’s are very entertaining.

    oh nice…
i really like both of these guys..
it will suck to see one lose..
    but..
    i’ll root for Nate anyway..
if he beats Neer.. he’ll have to be put into the top 10 LW’s for the UFC [not the world]
i mean, with wins over Assuncao, Robinson, and Pellegrino.. he’s just moving up and up and up.. and a win over Josh Neer, who has amazing talent, would just give him an even bigger boost..

now, i know someone’s going to say “oh, assuncao and robinson are low level fighters and aren’t good competition” or something like that.. but if you ask me.. they were definately worthy opponents..

Looks like Nate is taking another step up in competition. Neer can make the weight cut and perform, plus he’s got nasty elbows…

But buddy, you better have some serious sub-defense for this one. Diaz is steamrollin’ fools, and look’n to put a whoop’n on the Dentist.

Then maybe they’ll feed him Tyson Griffin like they should’ve in the first place!

  • THORAZINE says:

Do they actually call it “UFN”? I thought it was “UFC Fight Night”?

  • Sam Cupitt says:

It changes between “Ultimate Fight Night” and “UFC Fight Night” so both are acceptable.

  • Nick says:

This is setting up to be a setback fight for Nate. Obviously he could win this fight, but all the cards are stacked against him. He is looking way past Neer, and Neer is more than talented enough to catch Diaz and make him look foolish in the process. I hope Diaz takes the fight seriously, other wise he will be dropped to the back of the line, or fighting at 160 in elite xc with his brother.

    Nate better eat his wheaties!!!

    neer is no joke

  • Rich S. says:

    ya..
Neer is one of the best in the division now that he’s back, IMO..
And after seeing Nate weather the Pellegrino storm, it seems as though he’s just getting even better..

    but..
Neer is downright POWERFUL.. did you see him completely overpower Din in his last fight? He was just taking every shot, and then firing back, and when they clinched, it was just bad news for Din.. and that’s not even mentioning what happened on the ground.. i was afraid Nate would get overpowered by Robinson, and then i was afraid he would get overpowered by Pellegrino.. and he didn’t.. in either of those fights.. but i promise.. Neer, would overpower him.. now, that doesn’t mean he can’t get a submission.. but.. idk.. it does mess things up a bit..

i mean, they gave Stevenson to Neer right after TUF was over, and with the exception of a kneebar that injured Neer’s leg [which he still fought on for 2 more rounds, that crazy S.O.B!] it was total domination on Neer’s part..

Neer is a beast.. and if he wasn’t in the hardest LW division in the world right now, say, if he was in EXC or WEC.. he’d probably be a champion..

  • i love nate diaz, just hope he brings his a game to the fight, josh is top of the line and he will be ready.good luck nate,209
