Changes made to UFC 85 undercard

icfc.jpg Despite being less than two weeks away, two changes have been made to the undercard for UFC 85, scheduled to take place on June 7 in London, England.

UFC.com is reporting that heavyweight Neil Wain’s planned UFC debut on the show has been postponed due to a broken nose. Wain had been scheduled to take on kickboxing specialist Antoni Hardonk. Hardonk will remain on the card and is now scheduled to face Eddie Sanchez.

Also, according to MMAjunkie.com, a source representing fighter Kevin Burns has informed the site that Burns has been added to the UFC 85 undercard in a bout against Roan Carneiro. Ryo Chonan had been scheduled to fight Carneiro. The reason for Chonan being pulled from the card is not yet known and the UFC has yet to officially announce a change to the bout of any kind.

UFC 85 will take place at the O2 Arena and will be available in the United States on pay-per-view. The night’s main event will see former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes take on Thiago Alves. Other main card bouts include Brandon Vera vs. Fabricio Werdum; Michael Bisping vs. Jason Day; Mike Swick vs. Marcus Davis; and Nate Marquardt vs. Thales Leites.

So badly wanted to see Chonan fight live. What’s with this card?!

I’ve become extremely ambivalent about this card… At first I was like:

“Aight, cool, gonna see Chuck and Rashad throwdown”

    Then I was:

“Ok, Chuck is out, but they got Irvin which is great, I like his fights and he needs more exposure”

    Then:

“Really? Broken foot? Rashad out too?…”

    Then:

“Eh, Hughes / Alves… this to me looks like they’re trying to set up Hughes for a fall against Alves and I don’t think Hughes is gonna go with that plan”

    Then:

    “Damnit Leben”

    Now:

“UFC needs to stay the fuck away from England, it’s cursed.”

It’s ok with any luck Hardonk will knock Sanchez out or at least chop him down with leg kicks and the talk of him as a prospect will be gone.

UFC has reported Burns now and Chonan is off the card. – Check out the events page.

Kevin is a Des Moines local (like myself) so I’ll be rootin’ for him.
