CBS EXC Saturday Night Fights Media Day pics

Pictures from this past Monday’s CBS Elite XC Saturday Night Fights media day held at CBS Studio Center in Studio City, CA.

Gary Shaw was saying the right things to the media…

“No organization owns all the best fighters and no organization owns all the best fights. UFC got this started, but we are coming now. When UFC looks through the rearview mirror, we are on their bumper. We are just drafting right now.”

“There are a lot of important things that we can do to help MMA. Putting other organizations against each other is one of them. Imagine if we could do a show of UFC vs. EliteXC. We are willing to do that.”

  • D says:

Hey is Sam Caplan still working for ProElite?

  • j says:

Is Scott Smith wearing an Affliction T-Shirt. Ban him!!!!

  • Tony Evinger says:

Is anyone else concerned that Gina Carano won’t make weight? She has had issues with this in the past, and she said she hasn’t been able to train seriously because of Gladiators filming. The latest pictures leave me wondering…

  • JohnnyRev says:

    Hey Gary,

Monte Brewster wanted to play with the yanks too! Wake up … you need them a helluva lot more then they need you my friend

  • mike wolfe says:

“We are willing to do that.” [show of UFC vs. EliteXC] Wow! What a dramatic and daring thing for Gary to propose! He’s willing to let a smaller, lesser known org. take advantage of his org’s prestige and roster for no discernible benefit. Oh, that’s right. He’s the one with the smaller, lesser known org. who wants to leverage off the prestige of the larger, established org. What a twit.

  • Mike Calimbas says:

Gary Shaw is such a ham sandwich. He reminds me of a shady boxing promoter that decided to jump on a different bandwagon. Oh wait….

  • Pleau says:

Of course they want to do a show that’s UFC vs. EliteXC. They want all the recognition they can get. But the UFC is far and away ahead of them. EliteXC has bought up a couple top names and suddenly claims to be on par with the UFC. If they can grow their company in the national spotlight, by all means have a joint show. But until then, its absurd to think that far ahead.

  • bigfish042 says:

Not to sound too sexist, but……..Do Gina’s tits get bigger every time I see them?? And where TF does she hide them or wrap them up come fight time???

  • Mike Ringer says:

In the rear view mirror? Try not even in the same state. Typical promoter BS. It must be eating at Dana that these guys are on a major network, but I don’t blame Dana for not selling out their organization to get on TV.

  • Kogepan says:

Explain to me how EliteXC ‘sold out their organization to get on TV’? By your reasoning did UFC ‘sell out’ to get Bud advertising?

UFC myth of superiority will soon be shattered, once Fedor annihilates sylvia in about 30 seconds and the series of crappy shows UFC has planned after UFC 84. And 84 may seriously disapoint, given the appearance of two of the more boring fighters ever (Sherk/Machida). Shaw has smartly booked a card that where it looks like EVERY fight will more than likely end in a brutal knockout.

  • Kelvin says:

    Gary Shaw is a joke.

  • HexRei says:

Call Shaw a joke if you want but he knows how to promote a fighter. Neither Slice nor Carano are at the top of their classes but they are more well-known than all but few UFC fighters. He’s also done a good job of snapping up some memorable talent from the UFC and Pride like Scott Smith, Nick Diaz, James Thompson, and don’t forget he has Jake Shields who is actually a legitimate top10 WW, even top5 in some people’s books.

    I actually enjoy EliteXC. *shrug*

  • jeff the drunk says:

#8 i was wondering the same thing. but one thing i did notice is that overall she’s never looked better- her legs are incredible- she could lock me up in a body triangle anytime

  • jeff the drunk says:

urelated topic, but a point of interest:

Tonight on Sirius Satellite Radio channel 101 at 8PM EST

“Legendary MMA fighter Fedor Emelianenko joins Ferrall in studio with a host of other fighters including Tim Sylvia, Josh Barnett, Matt Lindland and Renato “Babalu” Sobral. “

  • sean says:

Elitexc’s event was an embarrassing blackeye for mma.
