Affliction signs Antonio Rogerio Nogueira

Affliction announced Tuesday that it has signed former PRIDE superstar Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, the twin brother of UFC interim heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

The news is according to a report on

Rogerio is 13-3 and last competed for Hardcore Championship Fighting on February 1. In that fight, he recorded a second round TKO over Todd Gouwenberg. Prior to that fight, he hadn’t competed since February of 2007 at PRIDE 33 in Las Vegas, where he suffered a notorious 23 second knockout at the hands of Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.

There is no word as to when Nogueira’s debut date for Affliction will be, but he’s not expected to compete on the promotion’s debut card on July 19 in Anaheim, Calif.

wow awesome signing. now they should go out and get tito and a few others and 205 will be looking almost as good as heavyweight. i am loving what they are doing.

  • Michaelthebox says:

It would be a lot faster to just throw their cash into a fireplace.

  • Evan says:

” now they should go out and get tito and a few others .”

How do you think their going to fund all of this?

  • Patrick says:

Affliction is going to burn out in a blaze of glory… probly after their 2nd card. They’re spending cash in crazy amounts and they don’t have the leverage to do it and survive… they’re betting that they’re going to make way way way way more than they actually are.

  • Zern says:

#3, how do u think they have signed everyone else? If they can sign Fedor, they can sign Tito

  • ttt says:

even if they tank, this will be one of the greatest HW cards since the Pride 2004 GP

  • Rich S. says:

is it just me.. or is Affliction shaping up to look like a freakin’ “fantasy” roster??

it’s getting more and more incredible..

  • Zack says:

#2 good stuff. But why waste the time building a fire when they could simply throw cash in big gobs out of the windows of their office buildings?

This will be an incredible card for hardcores that we will never forget, but then what?

  • paddiosf says:

Speaking of BTT fighters why don’t Affliction sign Ricardo Arona also..He would add some depth to the LHW division..He’s was in the Top Ten in early 2007 but dropped out of the Rankings after being inactive for the last year and a half..Plus he’s a quality fighter with a ton of experience…

  • Davey D says:

Glad to see Minotoro getting on this card. I also hope he lands in the UFC at some point in time. This card is really shaping up to be a good one but I think it’ll be a while before they put on another one. November at the very least I’ll say.

  • Sam Caplan says:

Minotoro isn’t on this upcoming Affliction card.

  • ctownhood says:

Those dudes need to change their names and nicknames as not to confuse people. And as awesome as this card is shaping up to be, talk to me after Affliction 7 or 8. I don’t see them existing long term..unless they up their $80 t shirts to $200
