m_26ff9f1f3942ea55ce646bb04a3c29cd.jpgDenis Kang is set to return to the ring at DREAM 2 during the first round of promotion’s middleweight Grand Prix on April 29, according to Mike Russell of The Fight Network.

Russell is reporting that Kang’s opponent will be Armenian striking specialist Gegard Mousasi.

Kang has not fought since suffering an upset loss to Yoshihiro Akiyama last October during a K-1 HERO’s card in South Korea.

Mousasi has a lifetime MMA record of 20-2-1, according to He has won his last seven consecutive fights with notable victories over Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos and Hector Lombard.

DREAM 2 is set to take place in Saitama, Japan at the Saitama Super Arena and will feature a rematch between Gesias “JZ Calvan” Calvancante and Shinya Aoki stemming from their no contest during the first round of the lightweight Grand Prix. Additional middleweight Grand Prix matchups include Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Andrews Nakahara and Masakatsu Funaki vs. Kiyoshi Tamura.

So is this gonna be available in the states? I heard Dream was going to sign a TV deal with HDNet, but I didn’t hear any follow ups to that story. Can anyone shed any light on the subject?

  • Nick says:

i think Kang is in for a rude awakening against Mousasi. Anyone else think Kang is walking into the lions den with this fight? I think Mousasi is one of the few middleweights dynamic enough to give Anderson Silva a run for his money.

    C’mon Cuban…go, go…c’mon!!

Damn I hope HDnet deal gets done. I have decided that if I can’t watch it, it doesn’t really happen, lol.

I would even be happy to ppv it if it were available.

And I think the JZ/Aoki fight is going to be a barn-burner!

  • Buddha says:

They sure didn’t give Kang an easy opening rounder. This has always bugged me but MMAweekly has Kang as the #4 MW in the world, they lose all credibility with that ranking.
