Eastman says he’s fighting McFedries on June 21

614295872_m.jpgUFC middleweight fighter Marvin “The Beastman” Eastman revealed this weekend via a blog post on MySpace that his next fight will be against Drew McFedries on June 21 during the live season finale for the seventh season of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

“The next victim of ‘The Beastman’ is on June 21 at the Palms Casino on the finale of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’: Forrest vs. Rampage (is) Drew McFedries,” the former IFO middleweight champion wrote.

Eastman last fought on February 2 at UFC 81, where he recorded a unanimous decision against Terry Martin. The win improved his overall record to 15-7-1 and served as his first victory while fighting for the UFC.

According to Eastman’s blog, the planned bout vs. McFedries is the last on his current contract with the promotion.

“(It) is my last fight under contract with the UFC,” Eastman stated. “This contract was a buyout from the purchase of the WFA by the UFC. I got ‘ripped’ (off).”

McFedries, 6-3, is 2-2 lifetime in the UFC. He lost his last fight to Patrick Cote at UFC Fight Night 12 in January when he was knocked out at 1:44 into round 1. The fight was McFedries’ first since June, as he was sidelined while recovering from staph infection and also mourning the loss of his mother.

The UFC has yet to officially announce the proposed bout between Eastman and McFedries, but if the fight is in fact a reality, it is uncertain whether it will make the Spike TV broadcast. The June season finale for the current season of “The Ultimate Fighter” is scheduled to be headlined by Diego Sanchez taking on retired Marine Luigi Fioravanti in a welterweight contest. Also, the finals of the TUF middleweight tournament will be featured as well.

  • The last TUF finale was pretty good, hope to see this one get some good fights on it. Don’t know if they can top Huerta v. Guida and War Machine v. J-Roc.

what the hell’s up w/ Marvin “the Glass Chin” Eastman wanting to fight all the KO artists lately..

he goes from getting KO’d three times in a row, once by a sub’ist, once by a striker, and once by a wrestler.. and then.. he fights Terry Martin who is REALLY heavy-handed.. and takes him to a decision.. maybe his chin’s gone.. but he’s risking it by fighting these guys with serious KO power..

idk.. the good thing about him fighting devistating strikers.. is that they have no ground game.. which is where he imposes his will..

and the thing he’ll have going for him in a fight with McFedries is that McFedries seems to break if he hasn’t hurt the guy after a few minutes.. kind of like his fight w/ Sakara [even though he won].. or Cote..

if he takes a good punch.. he kind of quits.. like.. Sakara caught him..and then he was just open to an assault [luckily for him, alessio was tired and he came back].. and Cote gave him one good punch.. and he just sat there taking punches after that and eventually hurdled up in the corner and the fight was stopped..

maybe Marvin’s chin is disappearing.. because he hung in there w/ Rampage for a while.. and he took Terry Martin to a decision.. and won..

i know McFedries can catch Marvin.. and i know Marvin’s always trying out his stand-up game [the elbows and kicks and such]

in this fight.. he needs to just get it to the ground.. and carry out a good gameplan.. if he wants to win..
