Wait, Pendergarst? In a tournament? I think that only works if you count walking to the cage and climbing the stairs as the first and second rounds.

  • Paul Hanna says:

i didnt realize george bush fought…

  • Adam Morgan says:

You can sort of see the “YAMMA” in the background on that pic.

    this is sad
    for so many reasons

  • Fin Diesel says:

Speaking of Oleg, he plays a fairly key role in the movie “We Own the Night” starring Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix. No real surprise, he plays a Russian mob member, who is a right-hand-man to the main bad guy. He’s actually fairly good in the role, and so is the movie.

This event is not listed on ticketmaster or on Trump Taj Mahal’s website either. I thought about getting tickets to see it. Maybe it is still up in the air?

  • Dan K says:

I’m not getting whats so “revolutionary” about the new surface. Is it because their using bars instead of a cage and the cameras are mounted to the Rig? I hate to be the one to say this but for the first time I actually would enjoy seeing this organization (if you can even call it that) fail miserably just because of their stupid comments leading up to the first fight.

Anyone know the price of the PPV??

I would consider 19.95, but beyond that, probably not.

I do like the superfight concept, using fighters 39 and older. While the fights won’t mean much, other than entertainment, it will allow some newer fans to see some “legends” of mma.

  • Jiu-Jitsu Guy says:

Even if George loses the fight, look for the judges to overturn it. He did it to Gore, so why not some MMA chump? LOL.

  • Rich says:

    Hey Fin Diesel…

Oleg is also in a movie that stars Paul Walker called “The Death and Life of Bobby Z” or just “Bobby Z”…

    also in the movie:
    Chuck Liddell
    Robbie Lawler
    Tim Sylvia
    and others i believe..

Oleg is a russian mobster in that one too..

you should check it out.. great movie.. there is a lot of MMA moves incorporated in it.. for some reason.. there is a point where Walker has Lawler in an armbar.. and at one point.. Oleg has Walker in a triangle..

i don’t know why there is so much jiu jitsu in the movie.. i mean, it’s more of a shoot em up kind flick..

    great movie..

you know.. Paul Walker is actually a Purple belt in BJJ..

Dude..I want in on this….I wanna fight the Pres so bad

  • ctownhood says:

I actually did some research, and George Bush has 5 wins against quality opponents:

    Ann Richards – Majority decision
Al Gore – Split decision via electoral votes (271-266)*
U.S Congress – Via deceptive facts on WMD
    John Kerry – Majority decision
    Saddam Hussein – Submission (choke)

    *controversial decision (See Florida votes)

  • Sam Caplan says:

CTown, that might be the best line ever on this site. Good one. :)

  • ctownhood says:

Thanks Sam…I have to find a creative outlet while at work 😉

On a serious note, I see this organization lasting 2 shows tops. Unless this “revolutionary” surface has spikes coming out of it, or strippers officiating on it, it will not generate any interest on it’s own. It’s all about the quality of fighters you have, and from the looks of it (sans George Bush), nothing makes me want to spend $$ to see this. The “Superfights” while intriguing, are glorified freakshows and not good for the sport. Butterbean was not even a legit boxer, now I am supposed to take him serious as a martial artist?

  • Rich says:

i like how, in the tourny, they threw Travis Wiuff in there with a bunch of guys who’ve only had 10 [or less] pro fights..

    that’s hilarious..

  • […] Previously YAMMA had listed Richards as a member of the 8-man tournament set to take place on April 11th but he been removed from the “fightcard” section of the website but he still remains listed in the “press release” section. […]
