Mike Swick vs. Marcus Davis at UFC 85? has learned that UFC Welterweight contenders Mike Swick and Marcus Davis will more than likely be squaring off at UFC 85 on June 7 at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Davis has strung together an impressive win-streak, finding victory in all of his last 11 bouts. His last loss came at the hands of Melvin Guillard at The Ultimate Finale 2 in November of 2005. In recent interviews, “The Irish Hand Grenade” has made mention of his desire to take some fights against more well-known opponents. Mike Swick should be a formidable opponent for Davis, both in high-status and a higher skill level than Davis is used to facing.

Mike Swick recently made the drop in weight from Middleweight after falling short against Yushin Okami at UFC 69: “Shootout”. He made a less-than-stellar Welterweight debut against Josh Burkman at Ultimate Fight Night 12 in January, but still found victory after a controversial split-decision. He must perform impressively against Marcus Davis to cement himself as a major contender in the UFC Welterweight division.

There is plenty of motivation for both of these fighters heading into this bout. Look for a possible “Fight of the Night” candidate, even amidst the main event between Chuck Liddell and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

    Good night Swick.

  • Andrej says:

lol, Mike Swick maybe you should move to 155, Welterweight might be to tuff for you. or Back to Middleweight.

  • mike wolfe says:

Swick looked anemic against Burkman. At the time I wondered whether he had cut too much weight. Davis will be on him like a rat on a cheeto. If Swick’s stamina isn’t better than the Burkman fight, it could be over quickly.

  • Handover Fist says:

    Bummer… bad news for Swick.

  • Adam Morgan says:

I like this fight a lot. Should be a good slugfest.

  • Binsu says:

One lackluster fight doesn’t make Swick a chump yet

  • Sam Cupitt says:

I had a feeling they’d make this fight. I think Swick may look to test out Davis’ ground game. Sure he’s been submitting people but people like Spratt and Taylor aren’t exactly known for their ground games.

Swick will have a hard time in the stand up aspect so it probably be best to try and emply Swick-missions.

Also, stop getting on Swick for his lacklustre performance… he just cut the weight a bit wrong and he knows what he has to do now.

  • Dan K says:

IMO if swick cuts weight properly and has the hand speed and combos that he used to have then this might be one of the best and most explosive fights of the year. I’m a huge fan of both guys so this will be really hard fight to root for since I wouldn’t want either to lose. IMO (if both fighters show up in good form)I see davis with a slight advantage due to power.
Would a win here warrant a title shot for Davis? How many does the guy need to win in a row to get a title shot?

  • Jeremy says:

I think this is a really interesting fight. We aren’t really sure what we have with either of these two fighters in this weight class yet. And both are looking to prove themselves. Davis is trying to show people he can beat some top/better guys in the division and Swick wants to prove that he is better then his last showing. Should make for a good fight.

  • I really like Marcus Davis….he’ll win this and then hopefully get one of the top tier WWs

  • Rich says:

Swick’s gonna have to be the counter-puncher in this he was in the Burkman fight..

but, i know, Davis won’t let this one end up like the Burkman fight..
plus.. like Cupitt said.. Swick cut incorrectly and will do better next time.. he knows what he has to do now, and he should show up a little bit bigger in this fight.. if Swick can counter.. but still bring the explosive Swick of old.. this should be an amazing fight..

i wouldn’t mind seeing swick impose his will w/ the “Swick-missions” either.. but Davis can go for subs too..

Swick would have to do a good job of countering, and be patient and setup the takedown.. then, he could get the finish..

but.. i’m not ruling out Davis at all..

  • JacRabbit says:

My money would have to be on Davis for this one

  • theickysticky says:

Marcus Davis is the BOMB! I think it will be a good fight but man…..if it was UFC Fantasy…..I take Davis by TKO in 2.
