Series premiere of VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” tonight at 10 p.m. ET

VH1’s latest “celebreality” television show is set to debut tonight with the premier of “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” scheduled for 10 p.m. ET.

What does the show have to do with MMA? Well, one of the show’s patients is none other than former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez.

The following bio is listed for Ricco on the show’s website:

Rodriguez nick named Ricco “Suave” Rodriguez is an American mixed martial arts fighter with a professional MMA record of 26-7-0. He has fought in most of the major fight organizations–UFC, PRIDE, King of the Cage–and was renowned as the UFC Heavyweight Champion. Ricco has a daughter whom he raised as a single dad for two years.

Other “patients” include actor Daniel Baldwin, actor Jeff Conaway (who is in really bad shape!), former pro wrestler Chyna, porn star Marey Carey, and the annoying dude from Crazy Town (oh wait, that pretty much was all of them!).

They were talking about reviews for the show today on Howard Stern, and apparently some critics are very enthusiastic it. I watched a clip of the show on the VH1 website and I have to admit, I really liked it.

You can actually see a good portion of the show online by clicking here.

  • Huckaby says:

I saw a three minute trailer for the show last week and I didn’t spot him one time.

  • Adam Morgan says:

Um. I watched, unfortunately, and was Ricco even on there?

  • Tanner says:

I’m watching it now and I don’t see Ricco at all…

  • Faybio says:

I’m pretty sure that Ricco replaces someone who gets booted off the show. Whether or not that is the case, he is definiyely going to be on it. Here are some pics from the VH1 website:

He is also listed as a cast member, and has a short bio.

  • Sam Caplan says:

Guess Ricco comes on later in the season.

  • Mike Wolfe says:

What’s the back story on Chyna? Her facial features and voice suggest ‘roids and HGH. Any info on that?

  • Evan says:

Not sure Mike but I believe her heyday was before HGH was readily available. Any gym rats here that know this stuff?

  • Sam Caplan says:

The back story is that she used to “date” Adam Morgan. Adam broke up with her and she developed some really bad habits to try and cope with no longer having Morgan in her life.

  • Mike Wolfe says:

Regardless of Chyna, that was a sad, sad show. Every now and then I hear somebody argue that this or that should be legal or that the government shouldn’t prosecute for substances. Then I see something like this show and see the train wrecks caused by substances. It’s really appalling when you realize that none of the people on the show were identified as meth users. If any of them had been using meth for as long as they’d been abusing coke or alcohol, chances are they’d already be dead.
