Robbie Lawler Off ICON Card

Sherdog’s Mike Sloan is reporting that EliteXC and ICON middleweight champion Robbie Lawler has torn tendon in his right arm and has been forced to sit out of the December 15 ICON fight card in Honolulu, Hawaii. Lawler was slated to face Hawaii-native Kala Kolohe Hose in a defense of the ICON middleweight title.

Lawler sustained the injury while training, and has received doctor’s instruction to halt activity for six weeks. So far no replacement for Lawler has been announced. Sherdog recently spoke with David Loiseau to confirm the rumor, and Loiseau would not comment on the topic.

ICON’s “Fearless” event can be viewed on Pro Elite for $12.95 on December 15 at 10pm ET/7pm PT.

  • Garrett says:

I wonder if Hughes will question if his injury is legit.

  • NickRE says:

Hughes probably caused it by teaching him a lesson for training to hard right before his fight a la Dan Barrera

  • Ant says:

Damnit, where can I get my money back?

  • Ant says:

k, so the fight card has been canceled and refunds start on Dec 13. I had 3 $75 tix, row 5 tix for this fight and I’m bummed I didn’t get to see Lawler and Hose throw leather for a few minutes before one of them, most likely Hose, gets KO’d. Oh well, hopefully when they reschedule this fight, they’ll have a better card that’ll hold ground if/when Lawler has to pull out a record third time.
