Quick Site Update with News Links

I wanted to give everyone a heads up that I won’t be posting much today, if at all. I’m not sure what the rest of the 5 Oz. staff has going on, but they have families too. There just won’t be much news going down today. If you see anything out there that’s interesting, feel free to leave a link in the comments section of this post.

Random thought: it must suck to be a fighter who has a fight this weekend and needs to cut weight today. My wife has a grappling tournament in early December and needs to watch her portions, but at least she can eat something.

I did do some work today and here are some links to my posts from my blog (by the way, you really should subscribe to the RSS feed or bookmark it if you haven’t done so as that’s where I do most of my posting):

Patrick Cote vs. Drew McFedries at UFN 12?

Report: Josh Koscheck to return at UFC 82

UFC signs Paul Kelly

Report: Kurt Pellegrino vs. Alberto Crane at UFN 12

Swick added to UFN 12 card; Fitch likely for UFC 82

Also, if you ordered a t-shirt, it went out in yesterday’s mail (writers, your shirts went out too). Thanks to all who ordered! Please send me an e-mail when you get them. We also received our first MMA celebrity order yesterday and it’s pretty awesome to think this guy will be sporting a 5 Oz. shirt. I’d name him publicly but I’m not sure he’d be cool with that.

If you want to show some love to 5 Oz. and sport a badass t-shirt at the same time, click here to order.

I have an interview with Kenny Florian that should be going live tomorrow on I conducted the interview following a seminar he conducted at the school I train at part-time (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu United). In the interview Kenny talks about when he thinks he’ll be fighting next and we discussed possible opponents.

I also conducted a 2-hour interview last night with a certain former PRIDE executive who was very candid about a lot of the internal issues that led to the company’s downfall.  I’m going to transcribe the interview over the weekend and it should go live on sometime next week. If you were a fan of PRIDE, you’re really going to find it fascinating. I can’t express enough how happy I am with how the interview turned out.

We’ve got some other big things that we’re working on for next week. Also, we haven’t started the official hiring process yet but we will be putting out a help wanted ad for both a news writer and a feature writer. We’ll have the details soon but the hiring qualifications will be strict. We can’t offer you money but if you’re looking for exposure, we’ll be glad to help. Stay tuned.

We also want to revamp our MySpace page and try to utilize it better. If you’re MySpace design wiz and or have ideas on how we can do more with the 5 Oz. MySpace page, e-mail me at [email protected]
