Nogueira vs. Kongo may not happen at UFC 79

According to Dave Meltzer in his latest column, a rumored match between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cheick Kongo may not take place at UFC 79 on Dec. 29 as had been previously reported. It now appears that Nogueira vs. Kongo could take place in either January or February.

Meltzer also indicates that a deal to bring the UFC to Montreal in January has yet to be finalized.

Too bad, looks like we will have to wait a little longer for kongo to beat big nog

  • Buccaneers says:

    Yeah, kongo by sub

  • […] I don’t bother posting about rumored matches any more … I get burned way too much when I do. Take this string of occurrences for example: first it was rumored that Nogueira would face off with Frank Mir. Then Mir was going to fight Kongo. Then Nog was facing Kongo. Then it was supposed to happen on New Years Eve. Now it’s not happening on New Years Eve. […]

Kongo beat Big Nog? Are you crazy or just plain remedial? Kongo hasn’t faced any high performers besides cro-cop…which cro-cop is probably the smartest fighter out there…considering he just robbed UFC of over a million dollars for a 6 fight contract. Kongo has “ZERO” ground game as we’ve all seen in his pervious fights. Nog will not only stand up with this guy…but he’ll go to the ground too. But knowing the UFC now-a-days I could see Kongo getting knocked out by Nog. You know I see Kongo being the next Semmy Schilts of MMA. The guy is too tall to be efficient on the ground. But we’ll see what happens.

I’d love to go to a UFC event in MTL.
