Report: Lawler signs four fight deal with EliteXC

MMAOnTap.com is reporting that Icon Sports middleweight champion and former UFC fighter”Ruthless” Robbie Lawler has signed a four fight contract with EliteXC.

Lawler is slated to fight in the main event of EliteXC’s next card on Showtime scheduled for September 15 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He will fight Murilo “Ninja” Rua for the EliteXC middleweight title.

This is an excellent signing for EliteXC. Lawler has improved a great deal since his first uneven run with the UFC several years back. He has a good chance of making Rua’s reign as EliteXC middleweight champion a short one.

Good signing for EliteXC. Their middleweight division certainly seems to be their strongest right now. But I am a little surprised they haven’t been more active/successful in the free agent market with fighters. I thought Denis Kang would have been a really good signing for them and it seems he’s on his way to K-1 now.

I don’t really understand Elite XC especially Show XC if your gonna put guys on TV put your stars on TV so you get some eyeballs on them and then when you put them on PPV there is some interest. Instead they relegate there stars to PPV’s that are seen by a very limited audience that probably already knew them anyway, giving them very little chance to gain new fans. If you put these guys on free or semi free TV they will have the opportunity to potentially gain many new fans or at least in the process create some new stars.
I also feel that they should be much more aggressive in the free agent market there are tons of good fighters out there so make it happen if they can grab Linland and Kang theyre middle weight top five looks pretty deadly and maybe better then the UFC’s……………………………………………………………………………………………….RT
