The “rumors” section of MMAWeekly.com is now listing a possible middleweight showdown between Drew McFedries and Marvin Eastman at UFC 77 in Cincinnati, Ohio during October.
Both are former light heavyweights who like to throw hands. McFedries, an impressive prospect who trains with MFS out of Iowa, last fought at UFC Fight Night 10 and knocked out wrestler Jordan Radev in the first round.
Eastman returned to the UFC in February and lost to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. He most recently fought for Richard Steele’s Steele Cage Promotions on July 7 in Las Vegas and won the IFO middleweight title by defeating Rob Kimmons by unanimous decision. It’s uncertain if Eastman became a free agent after the fight with Jackson, was released, or was simply allowed to fight outside of his contract.
Eastman had also been scheduled to fight Ray Sefo at USA Dynamtie!! on June 2 before the match was canceled after Sefo pulled out due to injury.
The Wrestling Observer also recently reported that a match between McFedries and Eastman is in the works.
