Silva apparently confirms fight with Liddell

If you go to the official web site of Wanderlei Silva you will notice that there is an image of both Silva’s face and Chuck Liddell’s face engaged in an edited staredown. If you click on the graphic it takes you to a page with some text.

I decided to have that text translated on Babel Fish and here’s what I got back:

The date of the fight of Wanderlei Silva is confirmed. It will be day 22 of September, in U.S.A., place and schedule still not defined. The confrontation between Wanderlei Silva and Chuck Lidell already had been divulged has about two months, and now it increases the expectation of the fans in following the final preparation. After many challenges, Lidell will have the chance to face intense Wanderlei, that are in constant preparation, treinos and an infinite will in winning this confrontation.

Also other fights for the UFC are marked: In UFC 74, day 25 of August, they will face Randy Couture and Gabriel Gonzaga and day 09 of September Quinton Jackson face Dan Henderson, for UFC 75.

You can read the original text in Portuguese by clicking here.

Credit goes out to reader MJC_123 who first pointed out the text that appears on Silva’s site.

[…] things look firm enough now to make a post. Sam Caplan translated a post on Wanderlei Silva’s official site which basically says “The fight is happening on September 22nd”. So that’s good […]

    Taken from the above:

t is on Wanderlei Silva’s official site and followed up and confirmed it: Wand will face Chuck Liddell on September 22. The much-awaited fight is set to take place during UFC 76, in the city of Anaheim, in California.

Curiously the two athletes, who over the years dominated their respective divisions in Pride (Wand) and theUFC (Liddell), are coming off significant losses. While Wand was overcome by Dan Henderson at Pride 33, in February, Liddell lost the light-heavyweight belt to Quinton Jackson at UFC 71, in May.
